UPlift
Designed as a temporary installation for the Seattle Design Festival, UPlift addresses the theme of power by engaging the public and unifying a multitude of individual actions into a single dynamic voice.
The installation utilizes three simple elements, a 20’ x 9’ woven mesh, balloons, and the public to generate a dynamic platform for interaction and engagement. Individuals are invited to write a message on a balloon and attached it anywhere on the mesh, adding their own voice to a joint effort of empowerment. With each action, individuals shape a delicately evolving topography, a space built upon the actions of the collective.
UPlift is an ephemeral experience, ever changing as the engagement and atmosphere shift over time. It has no final form and can never be duplicated in another time or place.
